Just Like They Did With Mbappé, PSG Could Beat Real Madrid to Another French Superstar

The last time Paris Saint-Germain beat out Real Madrid for a talented teenage French footballer was in 2017. You might remember that player. His name is Kylian Mbappé.

Well, it looks like three years later, PSG will try to usurp Los Blancos once again, this time for Stade Rennais midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

According to Marca (via Le10Sport), PSG sporting director, Leonardo, is keen on entering the race for the 17-year-old prodigy as Rennes look to cash in on his talents especially during a time when Ligue 1 is taking a financial hit due to the coronavirus.

Right now, Real Madrid are thought to be the front-runners for Camavinga but that can all change.

If PSG can go on a deep run in the UEFA Champions League once football returns and lock up Mbappé to a long-term contract, then the capital club can put forth an attractive offer. Having two of France’s best young talents on one team playing in Paris and leading the best French club in next year’s Champions League would be a very enticing prospect.

In terms of the potential cost of Camavinga, Transfermarkt set his value at €42 million, however, when two clubs like Real Madrid and PSG get involved in the bidding, you can expect the price to double as Rennes will likely sell to the highest bidder. Camavinga is under contract at Rennes until 2022.

PSG should go all out to secure another potential French superstar to play alongside Mbappé and send a message to the other big European clubs that they will spend whatever it takes to keep the best French talents in the country.
