When it comes to the English-speaking media, there’s a long list of journalists and pundits who quickly lose their professionalism to throw dirt at Neymar Jr.
Since arriving at Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, anyone in football media who needed a punchline whether it be in an article or on social media used the Brazilian. ESPN FC and Bleacher Report being the prime examples of this practice.

Despite plenty of fams and websites (like PSG Talk) coming to the defense of Neymar, very few mainstream football pundits follow suit.
However, it seems now that some media members are starting to push back, and that includes Pierre Ménès, who went on a rant defending the 28-year-old on The Reservists (via ParisTeam).
“The difference between this knockout round of the Champions League (against Dortmund 2-1; 2-0) and the other two previous ones is that Neymar was there,” Ménès said. “Admittedly, he was not exceptional, especially in the match. Going to the return match, we saw him defend a lot, and we saw another Neymar.”
Then, Ménès went on to make a statement that is a direct shot at those who don’t like the way that Neymar plays the game. Furthermore, he went on to add what he thinks will become of Neymar’s future in Paris.
“If you don’t like Neymar, you don’t like football. He’s an exceptional player,” Ménès said. “We have an incredible chance of having him in France, and with coronavirus, I think that he will extend at PSG.”
