Carlo Ancelotti has Everton FC dreaming big with the summer transfer window on the horizon.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via HITC), the Toffees are one of several clubs linked to Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly who is expected to depart once the Serie A season concludes.
As we’ve written about in the past, Paris Saint-Germain is another team interested in the Senegal international with Thiago Silva expected to leave the club once his contract expires this summer.
PSG can offer Koulibaly UEFA Champions League football but Ancelotti was his manager at Napoli before signing for Everton last December and that could convince him that a move to the Premier League is the right decision.
If it’s familiar faces that will convince Koulibaly to sign, PSG can play that game, too.
Idrissa Gueye was a fan-favorite at Everton before joining PSG last summer and in an interview with Canal Plus, the 30-year-old midfielder expressed he would approve of his current club signing Koulibaly.
“Yes, of course, it would be fantastic for [Koulibaly] and above all for the club. It would be fantastic for me too to have another Senegalese guy at the club. I get on very well with him. I call him ‘my general.’ If he comes here, it would be good thing for him.”
Napoli’s pricetag for Koulibaly, rumored to be between €80 million to €100 million, will likely be too steep for Everton but Manchester United is another club that could compete with PSG for his services.
Hopefully, the fact that Koulibaly purchased an apartment in Paris is a good sign that he prefers a return to Ligue 1 (previously played for FC Metz).
