Fernando Marçal’s sending off in the 61st minute changed everything for Paris Saint-Germain in their semi-final match against Olympique Lyonnais.
At the time of the Lyon defender’s handball in the penalty box, the score was close between the two sides at 2-1. Marçal was given his second yellow card and sent off and Neymar Jr. stepped up to the spot and finished calmly to put PSG up 3-1. It was an offensive onslaught from there.
In the 80th minute, Pablo Sarabia cleaned up a scramble in front of the Lyon goal for his 15th goal of the season. Sarabia is PSG’s leading scorer in 2020 and he’s making a strong case to start against Borussia Dortmund next week in the UEFA Champions League.
Kylian Mbappé was already on a brace late in the match and there was no chance manager Thomas Tuchel was going to take him off before the final whistle.
In stoppage time, Neymar was played in behind the Lyon defense by Marco Verratti and instead of taking the shot from an acute angle, he slotted a pass over to Mbappé in front of goal to complete his hat-trick.
With the win, PSG reached its sixth Coupe de France finals where they will play the winner of AS Saint-Étienne vs. Stade Rennais.
