On Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain did something Juventus FC couldn’t do, defeat Olympique Lyonnais at the Groupama Stadium.
PSG reached the Coupe de France finals with a resounding 5-1 win over Lyon with goals coming from Kylian Mbappé (hat-trick), Neymar Jr., and Pablo Sarabia.
One of Mbappé’s three goals stood out from the rest. Late in the second half, the Frenchman intercepted a pass on PSG’s side of the pitch, did a couple of stepovers around the halfway line to get past a defender, and then displayed his world-class speed as he raced towards Lyon’s Anthony Lopes in goal.
Mbappé still had work to do. At the edge of Lyon’s penalty box, the 21-year-old faked his shot to create space and then fired a shot past Lopes with his right foot.
As video clips of the goal made their way to social media, the reaction was overwhelming. Even supporters of other teams had to stop and marvel at Mbappé’s solo effort. I combed Twitter and here are some of the best reactions to the goal:
man Mbappé is ridiculous. the acceleration, the drop of the shoulder, the finish. world class. #PSG https://t.co/xYwKXte2Kg

Kylian Mbappé just scored this goal. There have been a growing number of football fans fallaciously claiming that Mbappé is “just a goalscorer”. He is one of Europe's best providers and goalscorers whilst possessing immense dribbling prowess.https://t.co/Ez3CTqHT8w

Mbappe's 2nd goal yesterday had some serious OG Ronaldo vibes to it.

Haters are confused because they want to comment Mbappé’s goal(s) yesterday with their usual nonsense, but then Lyon did beat Juventus one week ago. Take a moment to spare a thought to these guys.
