Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo makes no secret of his affinity for players currently playing in Italy. Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Marco Verratti, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are just a few of the names the Brazilian has signed from Serie A and B over the years.
The newest player being linked to the Parisians is Adam Marušić of Lazio, according to RadioSei (via Le10Sport). The Montenegro international is a Swiss Army knife for the Italian club since arriving in 2017 as he has played all over the pitch, whether it’s as a midfielder, full-back, or winger.
With the likely departure of Thomas Meunier, PSG will be in the market for a right-back as they’d like to have competition for Thilo Kehrer and potentially Colin Dagba. Although Marušić has played all over the pitch, right-back is a position in which the 27-year-old has started 23 times over his professional career.
When it comes to the cost, the price is relatively low for Marušić, who turns 28 in October. Per Transfermarkt, the value of the Montenegro international lies around €7 million.
Also, if PSG are going to go big-game hunting for the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly and Marušić’s teammate, Sergej Milinković-Savić, then they’ll have to find bargain deals to round out the rest of their needs on the squad.
Finally, PSG has shown that they don’t need to splash a large sum of cash on a full-back as Juan Bernat has demonstrated since arriving from FC Bayern Munich for €15 million.
