There is no shortage of world-class goal-scorers at Paris Saint-Germain but the player who has hit the back of the net more than any other in 2020 will probably surprise you.
Pablo Sarabia has scored more goals in this calendar year than Kylian Mbappé, Neymar Jr., Mauro Icardi, Edinson Cavani, and Angel Di Maria.
Against Dijon FCO, the former Sevilla FC man netted his 13th goal of the season in all competitions. Since the start of the new year, Sarabia has scored 9 times with the majority coming in the Coupe de France tournament.
Sarabia’s 13 goals this season pales in comparison to Mbappé’s 27 and Icardi’s 20, but, there’s no denying that the Spaniard is in great form and that could lead to a surprise start against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League. His goal against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in the group stage earlier this season is likely fresh on the mind of manager Thomas Tuchel.
PSG paid Sarabia’s €18 million buyout last summer, which was well below his €40 million market value according to Transfermarkt. With this kind of return so soon into his PSG career, you have to say it was a masterclass signing from club sporting director, Leonardo.
