Pablo Sarabia scored his 11th goal of the season as Paris Saint-Germain extended their lead to 4-1 over Dijon FCO at the Stade Gaston Gérard on Wednesday night.
Sarabia’s goal all but punched PSG’s ticket to the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. In the 55th minute, Mitchel Bakker played Kylian Mbappé through the Dijon defense with a fantastic through ball. The Frenchman then took the shot on from a difficult angle and Rúnar Rúnarsson made the save for Dijon.
The rebound from Rúnarsson fell right to Sarabia who finished the play very well considering the ball was bouncing and several Dijon defenders were in front of him.
Sarabia has elevated his play in recent weeks and if not for Keylor Navas, you could argue he’s been the best signing of last summer. He likely won’t start against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League next week but that’s mostly due to the quality ahead of him and not because of anything he hasn’t done. Sarabia will be a very useful “super-sub” for manager Thomas Tuchel.
