Paris Saint-Germain went down early to Girondins de Bordeaux but battled back thanks to Edinson Cavani’s vintage header in the 28th minute and this intuitive goal from captain Marquinhos.

In stoppage time before the end of the first half, Marquinhos, who was named captain after Thiago Silva was subbed off with an injury in the 17th minute, broke through the Bordeaux defense and used his shoulder to meet Angel Di Maria’s free-kick and score past Benoit Costil and put PSG into the lead.
It wasn’t the prettiest goal and there was a VAR review to make sure Thilo Kehrer, who was offside, didn’t interfere with the play but the goal was eventually given to PSG.
The goal will be a memorable one for the defender as he’s only scored twice all season.
