More Legal Issues Between Neymar and Barcelona

Neymar Jr. is making it more difficult for FC Barcelona to afford him in the future as the Brazil international is threatening legal action to recoup money he believes he’s owed.

According to El Mundo (via L’Equipe), Neymar claims Barcelona owes him €6.5 million stemming from an issue involving his transfer from Santos FC in 2013. The report indicates that fictitious image contracts did not fall under the tax rate originally thought and authorities have now come after Neymar to pay. The Paris Saint-Germain superstar wants the Catal club to reimburse him.

This isn’t the only legal issue between Neymar and his former club. He is also suing them for €3.5 million in unpaid wages and another €26 million for an unpaid bonus.

Neymar has started to come around to the idea of remaining at Paris Saint-Germain after flirting with a return to Barcelona last summer and you have to wonder if the legal issues play a role in that.

Regardless, we’ll keep an eye on these lawsuits as well as Neymar’s play on the pitch. He’s suspended for the upcoming match against Dijon FCO but should feature in the following matches, including the highly anticipated rematch against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.
