Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé? Bookmakers Name PSG Second Favorites to Sign Barcelona Star After Manchester City

If Lionel Messi wants to reunite with his friend Neymar Jr. on the football pitch, it’s looking more likely he could do so at Paris Saint-Germain and not FC Barcelona.

Following the public spat between Lionel Messi and Barcelona sporting direct Eric Abidal, rumors are swirling that the Argentine could depart the Catalan club this summer.

According to a report from The Guardian, Messi has a clause in his contract that would allow him to walk away from the only professional club that he has ever known for free.

It’s a clause that Messi may want to consider. At 32-years-old, he wants to be competing for the biggest trophies and Barcelona has underperformed when compared to their lofty expectations at the beginning of the season.

With an impending departure not completely off the table, bookmaker Ladbrokes has set the odds that Messi leaves Barcelona this summer at 4/1 as reported by the Manchester Evening News. The favorites to sign the six-time Ballon d’Or winner? That would be Manchester City at 7/1.

City certainly has the funds to afford Messi’s wages and Pep Guardiola will be familiar with the player from his time as manager of Barcelona.

The team that is favored to sign Messi right behind Manchester City is, you guessed it, Paris Saint-Germain at 12/1.

With Edinson Cavani set to leave this summer along with Layvin Kurzawa and a few others, PSG will have some extra funds to spend on wages. If PSG were to sign Messi, it would be the ultimate insult to a club they have feuded with on and off the pitch.
