Lyon Claim They Can Offer PSG Star Something Juventus and Real Madrid Can’t

If you’ve dated in the last decade, you’re familiar with the phrase “shoot your shot,” which is a meme where someone decides to take a chance, regardless if you fail or not.

Well, Olympique Lyonnais are doing their version of that as they want current Paris Saint-Germain striker, Mauro Icardi, to suit up for them next season according to EuroSport (via Culture PSG).

On loan from Inter Milan, PSG has a decision on their hands as to whether or not they want to trigger the option to buy for €65 million. At the start of the season, it was a no-brain decision; however, the capital club might be souring on the idea of keeping Icardi long term.

As a result, Lyon’s president, Jean-Michel Aulas, is shooting his shot to try and lure the Argentine to his club. Aulas is using playing time as an attempt to keep Icardi in France, but instead, play for Lyon.

“See him again in Italy? Juve? If he wants to play every week, he must come to Lyon,” Aulas said. “Last summer, I also told his wife. I had an interview with Wanda Nara, and she made a superb impression on me as an agent.”

If Lyon are serious about actually making a move for Icardi, then they’ll have to outbid Real Madrid, who are considering the 27-year-old as their new striker if PSG doesn’t decide to purchase him.

Regardless, PSG have a few more months to see if Icardi is their striker of the future, and the Parisiens need for the Argentine to rediscover his early-season form. In a do-or-die situation against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League, Icardi could play a role as PSG try and keep their European season alive.
