Generally, in a 5-0 win, there’s usually little to no controversy for the winning squad; however, when it comes to Paris Saint-Germain, even the smallest of controversies are blown out of proportion.
By now, many have seen the video clip circulating social media in which Kylian Mbappé is visually upset with manager Thomas Tuchel who took out the French star at the 68th-minute mark for Mauro Icardi. Also, it’s not the first time that the 21-year-old has shown his frustration with his manager.
Last December, Mbappé ignored Tuchel after being subbed off at the 90th-minute against the same Montpellier side. Despite it being the right decision considering that Tuchel needs to monitor his minutes with more important matches coming down the pipe.
It also didn’t help that Montpellier was playing a physical style of football in which an injury can occur.
Furthermore, PSG cannot afford to lose either Mbappé or Neymar Jr. to injury as the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 fixture against Borussia Dortmund is about two weeks away.
Nonetheless, common sense isn’t one that many on Twitter have, so plenty of people began forming their own narrative to the video.
Here are some of the best reactions to the Mbappé and Tuchel “altercation” from Twitter:
PSG manager Tuchel substituted Mbappe earlier today and he was absolutely fuming with the decision.
This isn't good at all, just a reminder that Mbappe still hasn't signed a new contract with PSG. 👀 pic.twitter.com/djRngUpyCD

Kylian Mbappe is a highly competitive athlete. He NEVER wants to come off, especially when he smells more goals. Tuchel is thinking long term and for that they are at cross purposes. But that is a healthy form of friction rather than something to be concerned about #PSGMHSC

I love Mbappe but he needs to calm down. No need to be disrespectful to Tuchel or Icardi and he had a good game so I don’t know why he’s crying

It’s like Mbappé always interprets coming off as: “I didn’t do anything wrong, why are you doing this to me? Let me cook against these scrubs!”
Tuchel is thinking: “We’re up 4-0 and have a match on Tuesday, let me get the guy some rest.” https://t.co/RdQov28eNe

Tuchel just needs to tell Mbappé that he's not going to win the Ballon d'Or for scoring a garbage time goal against Montpellier.

Tuchel is calm oh honestly— Rudebwoypee (@rudebwoypee24) February 2, 2020
Exactly. Tuchel should have ignored Mbappe’s behaviour coming off the pitch and dealt with it later. https://t.co/NQlm6GpKxQ
