Former Barcelona Player Talks Neymar Return and PSG’s Champions League Chances

Earlier this week, current FC Barcelona manager Quique Setién talked about the possibility of Neymar Jr. returning to the Catalan club. Now a former Barca player, Ludovic Giuly, is offering his two cents after an interview with Le Parisien.

Before diving into the Neymar subject, the former French international did mention that Paris Saint-Germain has the potential to win the UEFA Champions League eventually. The reason for his PSG optimism is due to Neymar’s current form, sighting that the Brazilian is playing at a level that Giuly has never seen from him while with the capital club.

” … Paris can win the Champions League. What makes me optimistic is the state of form of Neymar at the moment. We had never seen him like that with Paris. This means that he has found the urge. This can be seen,” said Giuly.

After providing some optimistic words for the Parisian club, the 43-year-old then went in-depth on the subject of Neymar and Barca. Giuly mentions that a player of Neymar’s caliber needs to be competing for the Champions League year-in and year-out, and he credits PSG for putting together a squad to compete every year.

Nonetheless, with his Barca ties, he does say that if players like Lionel Messi wants Neymar to come back to the Camp Nou, then there’s only one choice; to go back there. However, he does commend the 28-year-old for sticking it out and remaining with PSG.

With the Round of 16 of the Champions League fast approaching, one way for PSG to silence the Barca talk is to make a deep run this season to show that they can surround Neymar and Kylian Mbappé with the right talent to win.
