Chelsea FC are embroiled in a hotly contested battle for a top-four finish in the Premier League and it’s widely known that they considered bringing in Edinson Cavani in January to help increase their odds.
Chelsea’s preferred striker, 22-year-old Tammy Abraham, recently had an injury scare, which prompted manager Frank Lampard to look around at his options. Plus, a kid like Abraham could learn a lot from a seasoned veteran like Cavani.
The potential deal got a huge boost late in the transfer window when it became known that Atlético Madrid, Cavani’s preferred club, dropped out of the race after failing to come to an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.
The news of Cavani’s rumored arrival reached Abraham who admitted to looking forward to playing with the Uruguayan as reported by Football.London.
🗣️ Abraham wanted Cavani to join Chelsea:
“It would have been nice if he had come.
"He would have been someone I can learn off and steal his ideas to add to my own." pic.twitter.com/hFVF8V7P7w

“It would have been nice if he had come,” Abraham said. “He would have been someone I can learn off and steal his ideas to add to my own.”
“It didn’t happen though and for me, it gives me that extra push and desire to claim my position and be as best as I can.
So far this season, Abraham has outperformed El Matador. Through 32 appearances for the Blues, the England international has 15 goals and 6 assists. Cavani has only managed five goals through 15 appearances for PSG this season.
