Roma Midfielder Open to the Idea of Joining PSG

The January transfer window remains open and Paris Saint-Germain continues to search for a midfielder with size.

The names of several players have surfaced but nothing that would lead you to believe that an actual deal could be done. Nonetheless, it seems as though one player is looking to catch the attention of Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director.

In a recent interview with TéléfootFrench midfielder Steven Nzonzi opened up on the possibility of playing for his youth club.

“I am a Parisian. My whole family is in Paris. It would be great for any Parisian player to play in this club.”

With his 6’5″ stature, Nzonzi checks off the midfielder with height requirement that Leonardo is looking for this transfer window.

Furthermore, PSG did show interest in the Frenchman back in 2018, but the deal never materialized. However, despite the height and the fact that he’s a Parisian, Nzonzi’s age could be an issue.

At 31-years-old, Nzonzi is on the backend of his prime, which means there’s not a lot of mileage left on his legs.

Currently, on loan to Galatasaray SK from AS Roma, Nzonzi isn’t precisely enjoying life in Turkey. Last month, the Frenchman received an indefinite suspension from Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim for unacceptable behavior during a training session.

With the likelihood of Italy and Turkey not being long-term options, perhaps PSG can come in and obtain Nzonzi at a reasonable price.
