Report: Real Madrid Prepared to Offer €200M + Player for Mbappé

Real Madrid already floated the idea of sending Vinícius Júnior to Paris Saint-Germain in exchange for Kylian Mbappé and now, the Spanish giants are prepared to increase their offer if recent reports are to be believed.

According to Don Balon, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez remains focused on signing Mbappé and contacted the reigning French champions with an offer of Vinícius Jr. and €200 million for Mbappé.

It’s thought that the offer was mostly an experiment to test PSG’s loyalty to the Frenchman. Essentially, Real Madrid is trying to figure out what PSG’s number is to let go of their prized asset.

The report concludes by saying Les Parisiens gave their word that they would accept the offer in 2021.

Now for a dose of reality. Mbappé is 21-years-old and if PSG paid €222 million for Neymar Jr. in 2017 when he was 25, the Bondy native is going to be sold for upwards of €300 million if he is to be sold. Essentially, if/when Mbappé leaves Paris, it will be the most expensive transfer in history.

Even if it’s been reported (Diario AS) that Leonardo rates Vinícius Jr. highly, the Brazilian is very much a project and not a sure thing. He will be forever linked to Mbappé as the player that facilitated the transfer and I don’t think you can put that kind of pressure on an unproven player.

Real Madrid coaches and players will continue to make comments to the Spanish media to try and convince Mbappé he needs to leave the French capital to achieve his lofty dreams of winning every trophy in football. It’s up to PSG to convince him the Parisian project is worth staying for and that he can win major trophies at the Parc des Princes.
