Report: Marquinhos Agrees to 2-Year Contract Extension

Marquinhos arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 from AS Roma and has blossomed into a versatile defender capable of playing center-back and defensive midfielder.

PSG’s vice-captain is a fan-favorite, as depicted in a tifo unveiled by supporters earlier this season, and if a recent report from RMC Sport is correct, fans can expect to see the Brazilian at the Parc des Princes for years to come.

According to the report, the 25-year-old Marquinhos has reached an agreement to extend his contract at PSG until June 2024. Prior to the extension, the Brazilian was only tied to PSG until June 2022.

With Thiago Silva in the twilight of his career, it’s thought that Marquinhos will be the future captain once his compatriot departs the club, which could be this summer as the 35-year-olds contract expires at the end of the season.

This season, Marquinhos has made 24 appearances in all competitions and has worn the captain’s armband in Silva’s absence five times. If PSG is to win the UEFA Champions League this season, it will be because of Marquinhos outstanding defensive ability, which allows the club’s feared forwards to attack with reckless abandon.
