Thomas Meunier is one of several Paris Saint-Germain players whose contract expires this summer but the Belgian right-back could be on the move to FC Bayern Munich this month if recent reports are to be believed.
According to Sport Bild (via Bulinews.com), the German giants are looking to upgrade their right-back position and Meunier is an attractive option given his contract situation at PSG.
Meunier may welcome a move to Bayern Munich. Last summer, he turned down the opportunity to join Everton FC because they couldn’t offer UEFA Champions League football. The 28-year-old would likely welcome the cosmopolitan lifestyle that a major city like Munich could offer as opposed to Liverpool.
While Meunier has featured prominently for PSG, it’s been mostly out of necessity rather than ability. The former Club Brugge product gets forward way too often and he doesn’t deliver dangerous crosses on a consistent basis.
Personally, I’m not sure why Bayern would be interested in Meunier with Benjamin Pavard starting for them regularly in the right-back position. Maybe he could be a backup? Or, maybe Bayern wants to see if they can get one over on PSG after the French giants basically stole Juan Bernat from them in 2018 and the Spaniard turned into a fantastic player.
According to the report, Bayern Munich could also sign João Cancelo from Manchester United, RB Leipzig’s Lukas Klostermann, or Real Madrid’s Achraf Hakimi to solve their right-back issue.

Hello there! I am a Bayern fan reading your article. Thank you for writing this. I believe the reason why Bayern are looking at this player is to provide depth at the RB position and slide Pavard to CB ahead of Jerome Boateng while Joshua kimmich plays mid field. I hope this helps
