Positive Injury News Regarding Thiago Silva and Abdou Diallo

When Thiago Silva and Abdou Diallo were taken off against Lille OSC last Sunday, I immediately thought the worst and rightfully so.

After the win against Stade de Reims last week, manager Thomas Tuchel told the media that the hamstring injury to Marquinhos was nothing serious and now, he’s out for three weeks and may not be available for the UEFA Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund on February 18.

Fortunately, the news isn’t as bad for Silva and Diallo. According to Le Parisien, both were re-evaluated on Monday and “no further examination was necessary.” Silva is battling some discomfort in his groin (ouch) and Diallo had cramps. Silva is not expected to feature against Pau FC in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France on Wednesday but PSG should have plenty of reinforcements to handle a team from the third division of French football.

With Silva and Diallo escaping significant time in the infirmary, that leaves only Thilo Kehrer (toe), Marquinhos (hamstring), and Juan Bernat (calf) as the only three out of the squad due to injury. Edinson Cavani and Layvin Kurzawa are being withheld while their transfer situation is sorted out before the end of the January transfer window.
