NeyFlix: Netflix Producing a Documentary About Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain is sometimes referred to as “Hollywood FC” because of all of the stars and off-the-field issues that make headlines. On Monday, we learned that the nickname might be true but for a completely different reason.

According to reporting from Le Parisien, Netflix, the US-based video streaming service, is currently producing a documentary about Neymar Jr.

The French publication revealed that film crews have been given exclusive access to the PSG training center and have been spotted with Neymar on and off the pitch. A relative close to the Brazilian predicts that the end product will be a documentary series due to “the amount of footage shot.”

Don’t expect to hear too much about the documentary initially though as the report indicates that Netflix and PSG are keeping things quiet for now.

The other juicy nugget of information from the Le Parisien report is that Netflix beat out Amazon who apparently made an offer to Neymar for the rights to a documentary.

Personally, I couldn’t be more excited about this documentary to come out. While it will be Neymar-focused, it will be a rare glimpse behind the curtain to see how the club functions on a day-to-day basis.

What is the atmosphere in the locker room really like? Who interacts with who? What are Thomas Tuchel’s halftime speeches like? Who is Neymar the closest too? It’s all so fascinating.

What makes this project even more fascinating is that PSG has a very real opportunity to win the UEFA Champions League. This could be one of the most exciting seasons in PSG history and to have a Netflix film crew there to capture it all is incredibly exciting.

We just have to hope the team gives them plenty of magical moments to capture.
