Kalidou Koulibaly is often a player linked to Paris Saint-Germain as a potential replacement for the aging Thiago Silva. Unfortunately, it appears as though the Napoli center-back likely won’t be coming to the French capital any time soon.
According to Paris United, Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, isn’t interested in signing the Senegal international. For starters, Napoli has set a €150 million price tag for Koulibaly and even if Leonardo could negotiate that down, PSG will still have to pay upwards of €100 million, which is far too much for a 28-year-old center-back.
Even if the price for Koulibaly could be agreed upon between PSG and Napoli, the report indicates that former FC Metz defender has no intention of returning to Ligue 1 any time soon.
Koulibaly could be on the move this summer and if FC Barcelona or Real Madrid splash the cash for him, that could ultimately help PSG as those clubs are also interested in Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé. It’s unlikely they would be able to afford two €100-million-plus players.
For now, the likely center-back pairing of the future for PSG will be Marquinhos, who recently signed a contract extension, and Presnel Kimpembe.
