The leading theory regarding Woodward’s trip to Paris involves Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani. Despite reports that the club doesn’t want to sell him and his own agent saying as much, the Red Devils are desperate for help upfront and Cavani could solve some of their issues.
Manchester United is not the only team that could use a striker of Cavani’s quality. According to reporting from Paris United, Atlético Madrid’s CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín is also in Paris trying to work out a deal for PSG’s all-time leading scorer.
We don’t know the reason for Woodward’s trip to Paris or even if the photo was taken today. It’s been reported for months that United was interested in signing Cavani but the deal never got past the rumor phase.
There are only a couple weeks left in the January transfer window and with clubs desperate for Cavani, I could see PSG fleecing one of them and selling a 32-year-old, injury-prone striker for a substantial fee or perhaps a player in return.
