‘It’s a Prison Right There’ – Twitter Reacts to News of Cavani Staying at PSG

When the day started, we expected Atlético Madrid to make a third offer for Edinson Cavani. Ultimately, that didn’t happen and now, El Matador appears to be staying at Paris Saint-Germain for the rest of the season.

The transfer saga has dragged on all January and has dominated the conversation surrounding PSG. The club’s sporting director, Leonardo, never wavered on his demands and Atléti simply couldn’t reach the asking price. It’s as simple as that.

Unless some kind of deal can be worked out with another club in the remaining hours of the transfer window, Cavani will return to the PSG dressing room after handing in a transfer request and resume the back-up striker role behind Mauro Icardi.

PSG’s all-time leading scorer could be in the squad for Saturday’s match against Montpellier HSC at the Parc des Princes and it will be interesting to see how the supporters react to his arrival should he play.

Before we get to that match though, there was plenty of reaction on Twitter to the news that Cavani would remain in Paris. Responses ranged from fans of other clubs wanting their team to make an offer to some calling PSG a “prison.”
