‘I Hope He Stays Until the End’ – Thiago Silva Wants Edinson Cavani to Remain at PSG

A few days ago, Paris Saint-Germain manager, Thomas Tuchel, tried to clear up the reason as to why Edinson Cavani was out of the squad that traveled to AS Monaco amid transfer speculation.

Now, PSG captain, Thiago Silva, is looking to persuade the 32-year-old striker to stay in Paris. After Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Monaco, Silva spoke with the media (via Culture PSG), and provided his thoughts on the situation.

“Unfortunately, he returned from very serious injuries.”

“Each time, he feels things that scare him a little. He loses confidence a little. But we in the group, in the staff, we always trust this boy, who is special for the club. I hope he stays until the end.”

Cavani and Silva are both legends of the club and their contracts expire in June. It seems as though the Brazilian wants to see his tenure out alongside his Uruguayan teammate who he has shared many memories with.

Early in the Qatar Sports Investments era, Cavani and Silva were one of the first major transfer signings. They delivered plenty of domestic trophies but were also on the pitch together during those devastating UEFA Champions League defeats to FC Barcelona and Manchester United.

If this is the end of the road for these two PSG legends, Silva wants Cavani to take part in a potential deep run in the Champions League. Furthermore, O Monstro wants to make sure that El Matador is there with him if this squad can bring the club’s first Champions League trophy to the French capital.

This season appears to be one in which Les Parisiens can make a deep run and erase some of the demons from the past.
