Goal Celebration Mocks Neymar and His Beach Dancing

Over the long holiday break, a video was released of Neymar Jr. living it up in Brazil and partying on the beach.

How Neymar, Cavani, Verratti, and Other PSG Players Celebrated the New Year

The Paris Saint-Germain star who appeared to have had a few adult beverages was being pulled by his arm while dancing to loud music. Pretty innocent stuff but as with everything with Neymar, it made headlines and manager Thomas Tuchel was even asked about it at a press conference.

On Wednesday night, Paris Saint-Germain hosted AS Saint-Étienne in a Coupe de la Ligue quarter-finals match, which they won 6-1. It was the first time Neymar and Kylian Mbappé would share the pitch in 2020.

In the first half, Neymar scored PSG’s second goal of the night and the celebration was awfully reminiscent of the Brazilian’s holiday beach antics a few weeks prior.

After the goal, Mbappé played the role of “drunken friend” and led Neymar by the arm as PSG’s number 10 danced behind him. The former FC Barcelona player showed that he can take a joke by sharing the celebration on Twitter.

In case there was any doubt over the intention of the celebration, Mbappé acknowledged that it was an homage to the famous beach video as reported by Le Parisien.

“Ah ah! He had a good winter! He had a blast. We wanted to laugh a little. It’s over, he knows he’s going back to work. He plays football. It is good. Everything is fine. He even tackles…I saw him, damn! When we talk about awareness, Neymar tackling, it speaks to the whole team. It’s great!”

Both Mbappé and Neymar are player spectacular football at the moment. They’re healthy (knocks on wood), happy, and scoring a ton of goals leading some, well me, to declare them as the best team in the world not named Liverpool FC.
