‘Everyone Knows What Happened’ – Neymar Discusses Relationship With PSG Supporters

We’ve come a long way since those early-season matches when Paris Saint-Germain supporters booed and jeered Neymar Jr. for last summer’s transfer debacle that he was largely responsible for.

Fast-forward five months later and while the weather has cooled, the relationship between the Brazilian and PSG supporters has warmed to the point where Neymar’s name is now celebrated around the Parc des Princes after each goal he scores.

After PSG’s 3-3 draw against AS Monaco on Sunday night, Neymar was asked about how the relationship has changed as reported by Canal+ (via Culture PSG).

“For me, it’s the same thing since the first time I arrived here. The welcome I received is one of the strongest emotions I have known. And for me, the relationship takes its course. Everyone knows what happened this summer, it’s past, today, I’m a PSG player, I continue here, I give my best. PSG can have a great season, we can win. They are good supporters, I have nothing against them, on the contrary. There is immense affection, great respect and I hope they will support us and help us even more.”

There’s bound to be some supporters who will never forgive the Brazil international for trying to force his way out of the club but even the most ardent Neymar hater would have to admit that he’s been nothing but professional this season and he has backed that up with outstanding performances throughout the season.

If Neymar though PSG supporters welcoming him was one of the strongest emotions, just imagine what would happen if he’s able to stay healthy and lead PSG to a UEFA Champions League title.
