Cavani Approaches Impressive Goal-Scoring Record at PSG

Goals have been few and far between for Edinson Cavani this season. Injuries and the emergence of Mauro Icardi have been a major factor but there’s no denying that El Matador has a nose for goal when he’s fit and in form.

In fact, Cavani is PSG’s all-time leading scorer by a sizable margin (42 more than Zlatan Ibrahimovic). With his two goals against ESA Linas-Montlhéry, Cavani inched closer to an astounding plateau with Les Parisiens.

Cavani’s brace on Sunday night brought his total goal count with PSG to 198 and an even more impressive total of 401 throughout his entire career. Here is the breakdown courtesy of Culture PSG:

Danubio FC: 12
Palermo: 37
Napoli: 104
PSG: 198
Uruguay National Team: 50

With a very busy schedule coming up, Cavani should get plenty of opportunities to break through the 200 goal barrier as long as he stays healthy. There’s also the possibility that El Matador could be on his way out of the French capital if a team makes a suitable offer for him in the January transfer window.

In all likelihood, Cavani will remain in Paris until the end of the season when his contract expires. So, let’s enjoy him while we still can and see how high he can set the goalscoring record at Paris Saint-Germain.
