When Icardi Flips to ‘Killer Mode’

This season, Mauro Icardi has scored 13 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain. In an interview with PSG TV, the Argentine revealed that it’s his “killer mode” that allows him to be so lethal on the pitch.

You score a goal with every 16 touches of the football in Ligue 1…a real finisher…is that something you work on?

My style of play just comes naturally. I don’t work on it that much. I always try to be in the best position possible and to be as accurate as possible. When I get the chance to score, I have to be focused and in ‘killer’ mode. Today, I have scored nearly 150 goals and they are nearly all the same. That’s my style.

Icardi’s ability to be in the right place and the right time to score goals has earned him the title of the top poacher in Europe’s top five leagues.

The prolific striker arrived last summer via a loan from Inter Milan and as great as that deal was, it could be even better at the end of the season because the loan includes an option to buy for a very reasonable €65 million as reported by The Guardian. As striker of Icardi’s age and talent should cost upwards of €85 million, which is what Transfermarkt values him at.

If PSG can convince Icardi to stay, that’s a deal that sporting director Leonardo has to do to secure the striker position for years to come.
