Video: Neymar’s Spectacular Goal vs. Nantes Called Off After VAR Review

Paris Saint-Germain struggled in the first half against FC Nantes and was unable to create many goal-scoring opportunities. That was until the 41st minute.

Following a corner kick, Nantes was unable to properly clear the ball and Neymar Jr. was more than willing to smash a shot into the back of the net for PSG’s first goal of the match.

It was a brilliant finish from Neymar who was instrumental in PSG’s equalizer against Real Madrid last Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League. Unfortunately for PSG, like that match against Los Blancos, VAR reared its ugly head.

In the build-up to Neymar’s goal, Julian Draxler’s high boot was apparently too high and dangerous and thus, Neymar’s goal that followed was called off.

When you look at the replay, it’s clear Draxler did commit a foul in the box and the decision was accurate, but it’s frustrating to be on the losing end of so many VAR decisions.
