The 1970 Podcast: Don’t Call PSG the Favorites to Win the Champions League (even if they are)

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Galatasaray SK 5-0 at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night in the final group stage match of the UEFA Champions League. It was an impressive performance from Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr. who both scored a goal and recorded an assist on the night.

With so much action on the pitch, Marc Damon and Ed jumped on the mic to record an emergency podcast just hours after the final whistle.

On this episode, recorded on Wednesday evening, we open up the show discussing the commanding win over Galatasaray. Can we expect this chemistry between Mbappé and Neymar to continue or was this just a case of the Turkish club being weak?

There was also the penalty kick incident between Edinson Cavani and Neymar where the Brazilian gifted El Matador the opportunity to score from the spot. It was a nice gesture from Neymar who could have very easily taken the shot himself.

We also talk about the clash of the Ultras before the match and whether or not this season is Thomas Tuchel’s last in the French capital because he had the audacity to take Mbappé out of a match.

Our main event is all about the six teams PSG could play in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. We share who we think is the toughest and who we think PSG will draw.

We wrap up the show by answering a few of your questions sent via Twitter.
