Report: Tuchel is a Likely Candidate for Arsenal Job

After an abysmal start to their season, Arsenal FC sacked manager Unai Emery on November 29 and appointed Freddie Ljungberg in the interim.

This is the second managerial job at a big club that Emery has lost. If you remember, the Spaniard was at the helm of Paris Saint-Germain from 2016-18 before being replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

If recent reports out of France are accurate though, Tuchel could be the next PSG manager to leave for North London.

According to France Football (via Sport Witness), Tuchel has emerged as one of the Gunners’ top options for a number of reasons.

The Arsenal board likes that the German can speak multiple languages (including English), they like his modern approach to the game, and his creativity.

After last season’s shocking loss to Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League, Tuchel is very much on thin ice with PSG sporting director Leonardo. Another premature departure from the tournament this year will likely cost the manager his job.

While PSG is top of Ligue 1 and topped their Champions League group over Real Madrid, the team hasn’t been playing as a cohesive unit and incidents like the one we saw last Saturday between the manager and Kylian Mbappé hint at potential unrest in the dressing room.

It should be noted that Leonardo did not hire Tuchel and he may be looking for a reason to sack him and bring in his own manager. If that were to happen, Arsenal is likely to face competition from FC Bayern Munich who is interested in bringing Tuchel back to the Bundesliga.

If Tuchel does indeed end up at Arsenal at some point in his career, let’s just say it will be a little awkward for some of their supporters.
