PSG Women Win Big to Stay in Fighting Distance of Lyon

On Sunday, PSG Féminine took down Paris FC in a capital city derby to the tune of 3-0 to close out 2019 and remain within striking distance of league-leaders Olympique Lyonnais.

PSG opened the scoring through a Marie-Antoinette Katoto goal in the 25th minute. She almost doubled her tally just before the half from a Kadidiatou Diani pass put on a platter.

Breaking right out of the half, Léa Khelifi would secure the win with her first goal in a PSG shirt in the 46th minute.

Paris FC would go on an all-out attack that would see French national team forward Gaëtane Thiney almost pull the game within striking distance.

Ashley Lawrence, who was recently named the 2019 Canadian Player of the Year, put the game out of reach by scoring her second goal of the season in the 74th minute.

Across the league, Lyon needed two late goals from Wendie Renard and Shanice van de Sanden to beat Dijon FCO 2-0. Third place FC Girondins de Bordeaux defeated Olympique de Marseille 4-1 to keep the gap between with PSG within two points.

PSG end the half-season in second place with 29 points with a 9-2-1 record and a goal differential of 37-5.

PSG opens up the second half of the season against Marseille on January 18.
