PSG ‘Better and More Important’ Than Inter Milan According to Icardi’s Agent

Wanda Nara, the wife and agent of Mauro Icardi, has never been one to shy away from controversy and her recent comments about Inter Milan is sure to ruffle some feathers.

On the Italian television program CR4: La Repubblica delle Donne (via SempreInter.com), Nara discussed her client’s loan from the Italian club to PSG.

“I don’t know who chased after him. His move away is something that has went well for everyone. He has joined a better and more important team. Everyone knows that PSG is one of the most important clubs in the world.”

“I have wonderful memories of the San Siro and the Interisti. And as I always say, the real Interisti know that we have always been on the team’s side and this choice to go to Paris was also made so as to not betray the Nerazzurri. We left each other without betrayal. Mauro went to a club that he couldn’t say no to and even for Inter it went well.”

Nara went on to talk about Icardi’s future at PSG and recent media reports (Tuttosport via Daily Mail) about Juventus FC potentially being interested in the Argentine striker.

“No, no. Mauro’s present is in Paris. He is very well there and is scoring some crazy goals as he always has done. The only thing that interests me is his happiness and he is very happy at PSG.”

Let’s unpack these comments a bit. First of all, PSG, right now, is a better and more important club than Inter Milan in my opinion as well.

The Italian club may have history and they’re currently leading Serie A, but they haven’t won a league title since the 2009-10 season and haven’t won a trophy since 2010-11 (Coppa Italia). This season, Inter failed to advance to the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League while a club like Atalanta BC, with half the budget, did manage to qualify.

There’s no question that PSG has a more talented squad than Inter and while ‘more important’ is subjective, you could argue with players like Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr., PSG is more talked about and more desireable to watch from a neutral point of view because of the recognizable names.

It’s also great to hear Nara say Icardi is happy in Paris. He is not a full-time PSG player as his loan expires at the end of the season but with a €65 million option to buy (The Guardian), sporting director Leonardo will be keen to activate that clause of the loan and complete the signing of the 26-year-old.

Icardi’s happiness in the French capital, and his wife’s happiness as well, will go a long way in signing a new contract with PSG and turn down other big clubs who might be interested.
