Neymar Complicates Barcelona Transfer By Suing Them (Again)

If Neymar Jr. is to return to FC Barcelona next summer, it’s going to be one awkward reunion following the news that the Brazilian is suing his former club for unpaid wages and claims club president Josep Maria Bartomeu acted in bad faith.

According to El Mundo (via Diario AS), Neymar is demanding €3.5 million, which he believes he is owed as part of his salary from his last season at the Catalan club.

This isn’t the only lawsuit between Neymar and Barcelona as reported by Diario AS. Last September, the two sides met in court with Neymar claiming he is owed €26 million for non-payment of a contract bonus and Barcelona countersuing the Paris Saint-Germain forward for €75 million for failing to fulfill his contract. It’s a complicated legal mess, to be honest, that reportedly would have been dropped had Barcelona signed Neymar last summer.

Despite all of this, Neymar’s father claims the relationship between Neymar and Bartomeu is “fine.

I don’t know about you, but if I were suing someone for that amount of money for not honoring a contract or failing to pay me money that I was owed, I wouldn’t describe my relationship with them as “fine” and I certainly wouldn’t want to work for them in the future.

Could this be the reason why Neymar appears to have turned a corner at PSG in recent months at PSG? Not only has he been spectacular on the pitch but he’s also been a great teammate. Neymar’s explanation for his recent goal celebration is a perfect example of a more humble footballer.

Neymar has yet to sign a contract extension or definitively say he wants to stay in Paris past this season, but with a limited number of teams who can afford him, it’s looking more like Paris might be his best option for the foreseeable future.
