Less than 10 minutes into the match against Montpellier HSC and it’s clear how the hosts intend to play Paris Saint-Germain.
Pas de carton jaune pour l’arbitre, c’est dans l’esprit du jeu, ça joue ! (c’est honteux) pic.twitter.com/wJHRYe6kaK

Montpellier is one of the best and most physical teams in Ligue 1 and at the Stade de la Mosson, they’re almost unbeatable. With PSG in town, Michel Der Zakarian has instructed his side to be as physical as possible with the reigning French champions as you can see from the images above.
The choke-slam on Neymar didn’t even bring a yellow card from the referee while the second notable challenge, a very dangerous tackle from Pedro Mendes on Juan Bernat, did warrant a yellow.
On rappelera que Draxler a pris la même sanction sur un joueur qui s’est fracassé sur lui ….🤷🏻♂️#MHSCPSG pic.twitter.com/rngUkQUdVf

This is nothing new. PSG is constantly targeted by opposing sides in Ligue 1 who must resort to overly physical play to compete with the vastly superior Parisians. While I can understand the tactic, it’s up to the Ligue 1 officials to call the game properly. Both challenges were worthy of a yellow at the very least and the Mendes challenge could have very well been a red.
We’ll have to see how Neymar and company react to the physical play. Right now it’s 0-0 with PSG creating very few chances at the moment.
