Medical Update: The Latest on Abdou Diallo and Thiago Silva

In the 4-1 win over Amiens SC at the Parc des Princes, the only downside for Paris Saint-Germain were the injuries to Abdou Diallo and Thiago Silva.

In the 22nd minute, Diallo went down with what appeared to be a muscle injury and was subbed off. In the second half, it was Silva who twisted his ankle in a nasty fall and was subbed off.

Both incidents looked severe enough to keep them out for a significant amount of time but according to a report from Le Parisien, the prognosis is mostly positive.

Diallo only suffered a slight tear in his left thigh and should be able to return to training in the new year with the rest of the squad. Silva faces a similar recovery time.

The news is certainly promising. PSG was hit by the injury bug throughout the first half of the season and could ill-afford to lose two quality center-backs and their captain.

PSG players now have 11 days of rest before they have to return to the Ooredoo Training Centre on January 2. Those who are recovering from injury—Diallo, Silva, Edinson Cavani, Idrissa Gueye, and Presnel Kimpembe—may get a little extra time as the Coupe de France match against amateur side ESA Linas-Montlhery on January 5 shouldn’t require too many of Thomas Tuchel’s finest players to come away with the victory.
