Mbappé ‘Likes’ Photo of Liverpool Star Copying His Goal Celebration

I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong about Trent Alexander-Arnold. He has three first names after all.

The Liverpool FC kid can play some football and he just might be the best right-back in the world as the Ballon d’Or rankings would lead you to believe.

On Boxing Day, Liverpool traveled to the King Power Stadium to face second-place Leicester City FC and Alexander-Arnold was nothing short of amazing.

The 21-year-old recorded a goal and two assists as Liverpool defeated the Foxes 4-0 and extended their lead at the top of the Premier League.

This isn’t a Liverpool or Premier League site though, so why am I telling you all of this? Well, after Alexander-Arnold’s goal, he lit up social media by copying Kylian Mbappé’s signature goal celebration.

Bleacher Report posted images of Alexander-Arnold and Mbappé doing the same celebration on Twitter with the word “Iconic” and that’s where things get interesting.

If you head over to Mbappé’s Twitter account, you’ll see the Frenchman “liked” the Bleacher Report post.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a big deal. Mbappé is a 21-year-old footballer who grew up with social media, however, Liverpool fans don’t need much to get over-excited. They started #Mbappe2020 on Twitter after a court ruled Liverpool could sign a lucrative deal with Nike over New Balance and Mbappé previously “Liked” a post from Mohamed Salah on Instagram that got everyone in Merseyside optimistic about a potential blockbuster transfer.

Mbappé kicked off the connection with Liverpool by saying he uses Jürgen Klopp’s side when playing the video game FIFA.

PSG supporters will be comforted to know that Klopp has made it clear that Liverpool cannot afford to sign Mbappé, or any top-tier French players, so this is all just for fun. Alexander-Arnold is the same age as Mbappé and the two are likely friends and a simple “like” on social media is just that. Sorry, Liverpool fans.
