Here We Go With The Neymar-to-Barcelona Rumors Again

Just when Neymar Jr. is healthy, playing well, and thriving with his teammates, the Spanish media is starting with their nonsense about FC Barcelona planning a summer move him.

The reliably inaccurate Mundo Deportivo reports that Barca is planning their 2020 transfer signings and if Neymar continues on his current trajectory, they will make the Brazilian a priority next summer where his price tag is expected to reach €180 million due to a FIFA clause called the ‘Regulations on the Statute and Transfer of Players.’

We all remember last summer’s fiasco where Neymar tried to force a transfer back to his former club but it ultimately fell through because Barcelona couldn’t match PSG’s asking fee. I’m not positive Barcelona could even match €180 million without selling some of their better players but I don’t think we’ll even get to that point.

Remember, Neymar is currently suing Barcelona for unpaid bonuses and other fees. PSG’s number 10 has also talked about becoming the club’s captain and against Amiens SC last Saturday, he was shown embracing and interacting with PSG supporters for the first time all season. There’s also his relationship with Kylian Mbappé. The two have a special connection on the pitch and are friends off as well. All of this is to say, I’m not sure Neymar is that unhappy at PSG anymore.

Of course, a lot will depend on how the team performs in the UEFA Champions League but with a winnable tie against Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16, PSG may be able to do enough to convince Neymar that he belongs in the French capital.
