Controversial Former PSG Midfielder Wanted By Arsenal

It turns out the grass isn’t always greener on the other side as our good friend Adrien Rabiot is finding out.

The Frenchman worked his way up the ranks at PSG and secured a regular starting role in the midfield for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. He remained a major part of PSG’s project despite numerous missteps throughout his career. That apparently wasn’t enough though and Rabiot and his mother, who is also his agent, decided to play games and run down the player’s contract so that they could leave on a free transfer to Juventus FC.

After half of a season, Rabiot is unsettled due to a lack of playing time and is looking for an exit plan. According to Foot Mercato, that exit could come via a loan deal to Arsenal FC.

The rumor makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Rabiot isn’t likely to break into Maurizio Sarri’s preferred starting XI and the 24-year-old didn’t leave the French capital to sit on the bench in Turin.

Arsenal, currently 11th in the Premier League, could use all the help they can get at the moment with new manager Mikel Arteta prepared to take over. Mesut Özil has been fantastically underwhelming and Granit Xhaka’s days have been numbered in North London ever since his famous clash with fans during a match. I could see Rabiot joining fellow long-haired Frenchman Matteo Guendouzi in the midfield along with either Dani Ceballos or Lucas Torreira.

A loan deal in January would also allow Arteta to make additional signings to help shape the club into his vision while getting a midfielder that we once called one of the best in Europe.

Somewhat selfishly, I’m hoping this happens because Rabiot’s unprofessional behavior at times is bound to make for great videos on AFTV.
