PSG’s Official Starting Lineup vs Lille: Surprise Start For Neymar

I really got this one wrong, huh? Paris Saint-Germain will kick-off against Lille OSC at the Parc des Princes in under an hour and leading the attack will be Neymar Jr!

The Brazilian returns for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury last October while on international duty with Brazil. With Mauro Icardi in the striker role and Angel Di Maria on the other wing, this promises to be a very potent PSG offense. Don’t expect to see Neymar play the entire match as it was revealed by Thomas Tuchel that it would be too risky to play him 90 minutes.

The rest of Tuchel’s starting lineup is incredibly strong considering the match next Tuesday against Real Madrid. Julian Draxler gets a surprise start in the midfield along with Idrissa Gueye and Marquinhos. This is the second consecutive start for the German who had a solid game against Stade Brestois where he picked up an assist to Di Maria.

On defense, Thomas Meunier returns from injury and resumes his duties at the right-back position. Thiago Silva and Presnel Kimpembe will lock things down at center-back and Juan Bernat will be on the left-wing. Keylor Navas also returns to the starting lineup after picking up a slight injury in warmups against Brest.

For the first time in a while, Tuchel had practically a full squad available to him. The biggest omission for the starting XI is Kylian Mbappé who was battling an illness all week. It’s likely we’ll see him late in the second half. It will be interesting to see if Edinson Cavani sees any playing time or if he continues to slip down the pecking order.
