Much of the transfer news involving Paris Saint-Germain recently involves who might be leaving the club, but this rumor is about a potential signing that would be as spectacular as any.
According to the Daily Mail, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho wants to leave the German club next summer and PSG is one of the clubs interested in signing the England international.
Liverpool FC is the favorite to land Sancho and Manchester City will be in the running to resign a player they allowed to leave in 2017 for a laughable €8.7 million per ESPN. Other teams mentioned in the report include Real Madrid and Manchester United. Could PSG actually outbid these teams and bring Sancho to the French capital?
That will likely depend on what happens with Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé. If one of those players leaves next summer, PSG will have a huge influx of cash and an open spot on their roster for a talented attacking player. Sancho would be an ideal replacement.
Last season, Sancho scored 12 goals and recorded 17 assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund and essentially sent Christian Pulisic to the bench. He’s a pacey attack-minded player who would thrive in Thomas Tuchel’s system.
It’s a long-shot for PSG to sign Sancho, though. Not too many English players in their prime want to play in Ligue 1, but it remains a realistic target for the club who could very well be in the market for world-class talent next summer. He won’t come cheap though. Transfermarkt puts Sancho’s market value at €100 million.
