PSG Target Real Madrid Winger Vinicius Jr.

Paris Saint-Germain could use some reinforcements in the upcoming January transfer window.

Injuries have plagued the reigning French champions so far this season and while manager Thomas Tuchel has been able to keep the ship afloat, adding a quality player in January would add some much-needed depth.

In a report from Sport (via ESPN), the player PSG could add in the transfer window is Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr.

The Brazilian hasn’t featured in many games for Zinedine Zidane this season, which is sure to frustrate the 19-year-old. The former Flamengo man has also been replaced in the lineup by fellow Brazilian Rodrygo who recently scored a hat-trick against Galatasaray SK in the UEFA Champions League.

Transfermarkt puts Vinicius Jr.’s market value at €70 million, so even if he were available in January, I don’t think PSG would willing to spend that amount for a player who would be brought in primarily for depth.

There is the possibility Vinicius Jr. could arrive next summer. If you remember, PSG wanted Real Madrid to include him in a Neymar Jr. deal (AS Diario) but Los Blancos were unwilling to do that in the end.

With the rise of Rodrygo, perhaps Madrid would be willing to offload Vinicius and replace him with Neymar. Or, it’s possible both players remain with their current teams. The direction of both teams in the summer transfer window will depend a lot on how both perform in the UEFA Champions League.
