Paris Saint-Germain has had a strong comeback at the Bernabeu, from 2-0 down to earn a draw in Champions League. Zinedine Zidane blamed “cruel football” after Real Madrid threw away a two-goal lead against PSG in the dramatic draw. Karim Benzema awarded his side with a fantastic close-range goal early on in the game, followed by a header in the 79th minute.
But PSG’s emerging superstar quickly countered it with a goal after a defensive mix-up in the 81st minute. Merely two minutes later, Pablo Sarabia was responsible for the dramatic equalizer, leading to the draw and for PSG to shoot up to the top of the table.
Funnily, a collision on the touchline between Zinedine Zidane and Kylian Mbappé last night has triggered several comical reactions on social media. Zidane has made it quite obvious how much he wants to acquire the young French talent and as Mbappé innocuously jumped into the Real Madrid manager whilst trying to keep the ball in play during Tuesday’s 2-2 draw, many have joked about how the manager would very much like to “kidnap” Mbappé.
The Real Madrid boss spoke before the game about his genuine ‘love for Mbappé’ – the player has continuously been linked with a move to the Spanish capital. “I’m already in love with Mbappe“, said Zidane on Monday, not holding back on praise. “I’ve known Mbappe for a long time, he came to do a test”, Zidane added, referencing a time the forward came to Madrid as a youth player.
Real Madrid is reportedly interested in Mbappé, Neymar and Raheem sterling it seems. Revealed in an exclusive interview with Shaun King, during the summer Real Madrid offered Gareth Bale and £70 million in exchange for Raheem Sterling. Currently, they might be interested in Neymar as PSG is willing to sell. Many think this is to raise funds to secure Kylian Mbappe’s place at Paris-Saint Germain by offering a new and tempting deal.
So, unfortunately for Zinedine Zidane, it doesn’t seem likely that PSG will let Mbappé leave or offer him up anytime soon. With a fantastic player like that, Thomas Tuchel has claimed: “I don’t know how much Zidane loves Mbappé but he is our most important player and we are very happy that he belongs to us.’
