Kylian Mbappé and Presnel Kimpembe Get France Call-Up

With the upcoming international break approaching, the French National Team has called up both Kylian Mbappé and Presnel Kimpembe. The reigning World Cup champions are looking to punch their ticket to the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament this summer.

Currently, France is in second place in Group H with 19 points, and unless they stumble over these next two qualifying matches, Les Bleus should punch their ticket. After missing the last two qualifies last month due to his thigh injury, Mbappé is back for France.

The 20-year-old striker will look to gain some confidence playing against Moldova and Albania next week. Since coming back from his injury, Mbappé has had some moments where he seems like his old self, but then there are moments where he doesn’t. It’s no secret that Mbappé relies on speed, and he’s still overcoming his thigh injury; it appears as though it might be lingering still.

Understandably, Mbappé wants to return and represent his country; however, coming off a significant injury, perhaps Paris Saint-Germain would wish he’d take the international break to rest. Furthermore, France has enough talent to get by their last two qualifying matches.

Nonetheless, it looks like Mbappé will be playing, so PSG and its supporters will have to hope their star striker doesn’t pick up an injury or reaggravates an existing one.

Meanwhile, Kimpembe could likely see a start in these matches playing alongside Raphaël Varane. The 24-year-old is experiencing a bounceback season playing with Thiago Silva, so potentially playing with Varane is no problem.

France along Mbappé and Kimpembe will take on Moldova on Thursday and Albania next Sunday.
