Neymar “Feels Like a Different Person at Times” According to PSG Source

Neymar Jr.’s desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain last summer is well-documented as reported by Bleacher Report. Since then, the Brazil international has returned to the team and while he hasn’t played UEFA Champions League football yet due to suspension, he has contributed three match-winning goals for Les Parisiens to maintain their lead at the top of Ligue 1.

Despite the late-game heroics, some PSG fans have yet to forgive the Samba star for his desire to leave the French capital and even pay €20 million of his own money, according to L’Equipe, to help facilitate the move. A vocal section of supporters, but certainly not all of them, have unveiled banners and chanted unsavory things towards Neymar to express their displeasure as describe by AS.

In a recent piece for ESPN, Julien Laurens writes about Neymar and his renewed desire to give his all for PSG. “It’s like a new lease of life,” a source close to the team told ESPN. “It feels like he is a different person at times. He is happy, relaxed, interacting a lot with everyone.”

If you saw Neymar’s Instagram Story after the win against Girondins de Bordeaux, you’ll know exactly what the source is talking about:

Neymar’s relationship with Kylian Mbappé is clearly a good one. Not only do they link up well on the pitch, but they genuinely enjoy each other’s company outside of the game as well as was evident recently when the two attended the birthday party of model Cindy Bruna. In Laurens’ article, he talks about Neymar’s positive relationship with Thomas Tuchel and how he addressed his teammates and told them that he was going to “take this team to the next level.” While he likely won’t learn French anytime soon, Neymar is making the best of his situation even if it’s not exactly what he wanted.

While its business as usual for PSG executives and players when it comes to Neymar, supporters are not so quick to forgive. After the match against Bordeaux where he scored, Neymar described the relationship the fans have with him as that of a girlfriend according to ESPN. “It’s like being in a relationship with a girlfriend. When things are not going well with her, you go without speaking. However, through love, affection, and cuddling, things go back to normal.”

Neymar has been nothing but professional since returning to the club since his failed transfer. He has said all of the right things publicly and it’s hard to argue with his play on the pitch so far. If his form continues, and he’s able to stay healthy, this could be a very special season for Paris Saint-Germain. If he delivers a major trophy (and we all know which one I’m referring to), I think it’s safe to say Neymar’s name will echo around the Parc des Princes once again.
