Injury Update to Several Key Paris Saint-Germain Players

Paris Saint-Germain released their medical update on the club’s official website on Monday afternoon and it wasn’t what most supporters were hoping to see.

The big news on the day is that Neymar Jr. will miss 4 weeks with what PSG team doctors are calling a grade 2 lesion to his left hamstring. If all goes to plan—and there is going to be another assessment in eight days—the Brazil international will miss six games, including two in the UEFA Champions League and Le Classique.

It’s frustrating to see Neymar suffer yet another injury but it’s especially annoying to see him injured in a meaningless international friendly so that Brazil can cash in on a match against Nigeria played in Singapore. It’s completely unnecessary and now PSG will have to cope with the injury while there is little to no impact on the Brazil national team.

Other updates include Julian Draxler and Colin Daba returning to full training this week.

Edinson Cavani, who has been out since late August with a hip injury per the club’s website, continues to train with the team this week.

Kylian Mbappé’s recovery program continues to go well and Le Parisien reported that the Frenchman could play against Club Brugge on October 22 if there are no setbacks in his recovery.

Finally, the medical report states that Thilo Kehrer is also continuing to work his way back to fitness after suffering a foot injury on August 12.

The injuries are piling up for Les Parisiens and the treatment room is starting to be able to field a pretty good starting lineup. Hopefully, PSG can continue to overcome the injuries and continue their bright start to the season, which has them top of the Champions League group and top of Ligue 1.
