We didn’t plan on talking about a Paris Saint-Germain loss this early in the season but here we are. Following the defeat to Stade Rennais last Sunday at Roazhon Park, many supporters are starting to question the team—primarily the head coach and captain. Before PSG take to the pitch to try and right the ship, we had to jump on the mic and give our thoughts on the latest news surrounding the club.
On this episode of PSG Talking, Ed hosts and he’s joined by fellow contributors Zach Donabedian and James Teague. Not the usual crew you’re used to but we like to keep the conversation fresh with new takes on the world of PSG. The three recap the loss to Rennes and give their takes on what the issue is plaguing the reigning French champions. Is it simply an issue of motivation, tactics, or something deeper? What changes need to be made? Should PSG pull the plug on Thomas Tuchel or stand by their manager and continue to give him the resources? While some blame the manager, others think Thiago Silva is no longer the man to captain PSG. Could his compatriot Marquinhos be the man for the job?
Next, we talk about transfers. What’s the latest on Neymar Jr. and will FC Barcelona be able to come up with the funds to afford their former player? Or, could a team like Juventus FC or Real Madrid make PSG an offer they can’t refuse? Deadline day is quickly approaching and PSG still need to make moves with many supporters eyeing the goalkeeper and right-back positions. We give our thoughts on what should be a frenetic end to the summer transfer season that could see Neymar depart and several new faces wearing PSG colors.
The show concludes with our ideal group for the Champions League draw. Will we see Paris draw the best teams in Europe like usual or will the Champions League gods bestow some good fortune upon the team from the French capital? We will also answer some of your questions from Twitter.
