PSG Talking Presents: 2019 Copa América Preview Podcast

We’re mere hours away from the start of one of the most anticipated football tournaments this summer. The 2019 Copa América will kick off in Brazil on Friday and 12 teams will do battle for continental bragging rights.

On this special episode of PSG Talking, Marc Damon hosts and he’s joined by fellow contributor Cose Espinosa and Chase Haislip from the Canary and Blue podcast. The trio introduces the tournament to those who may be new to watching it (airing on ESPN+ for those in the United States) and explain why Qatar and Japan are included in a South American tournament.

Recorded after Neymar Jr.’s devastating ankle injury, the boys discuss Brazil’s chances to win on home soil despite the absence of their best-attacking player. Can Uruguay, led by Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani, score enough goals to be competitive? Lionel Messi will be suiting up for Argentina, along with PSG’s Angel Di Maria, but what does this tournament mean to that country as they prepare for life after Messi? Colombia, Ecuador, and Chile will be in the tournament as well and will pose a threat. As Haislip eloquently points out, this tournament is unlike many others. There will be no blowouts. The South American teams are all very similar in terms of talent and fans will be treated to some exciting matches throughout.

To wrap things up, our experts make their picks to win the tournament. As always, thanks for listening!
