PSG Cup Talk – What to Expect in the Round of 16

The FIFA World Cup may have had the day off but not us here at PSG Talk. We’re still buzzing over what may have been the most exciting group stage in the tournament’s history and we still have several marquee matchups to look forward to in the Round of 16, which starts on Saturday. Marc Damon hosts this special PSG Cup Talk episode and joining him today is Critty Smith from the Kings of Europe podcast.

The duo begins by recapping the group stage and the frenetic finish that saw Germany crash out of the tournament and Argentina find a way to advance after a slow start. We witnessed the emergence of Mexico and blistering performances from England and Belgium as well. With the tournament expanding the number of teams for the 2026 World Cup, will this amount of parody be a thing of the past?

There’s no doubt that the knockout stage is as wide open as it’s been in years. Sure, Brazil will likely be the favorites but they haven’t been as impressive as many thought they would be. England might actually have a shot at this believe it or not. Switzerland is flying under the radar and Croatia look to have all the talent necessary to make a run at the final. Who will advance? Is France vs. Argentina the best game of the round? Will Neymar Jr. quiet his critics? So many questions and we’re just hours away from finding out the answers.

From Fox’s television coverage to the exciting action on the pitch, listen to our fascinating discussion about the top World Cup storylines.
